A new day, another opportunity! Welcome to the happy gains blog with me, Kenya! I hope you are well and ready for some encouragement to keep you focus and motivated to become the best version of yourself. Now grab something to drink and lets start the discussion.

Today we are going to discuss something that I believe many people may be struggling with. There are moments in our lives that we are going to have to do what is best for ourselves. That may look like what I like to call “the selfish season”.

The selfish season is when you start to take a real good look at yourself and your surroundings. You start to realize that there are things that are hindering your ability to accomplish your goals and you will need to make some huge changes. Some of those huge changes may look like you are isolating yourself from others or as if you are not caring because the word NO will become your protective gear in order to stay focus. A lot of our hinderances come from us saying yes to everyone and everything, which leads to the wasting of our precious time. So, saying no allows you to say yes to what really matters to you instead of doing things that are counter productive.

The selfish season is a season to create a conducive atmosphere where you can be creative and laser focused on your goals. One way that I have create a conducive atmosphere for myself is by living by myself. The reason for this is for my need for a controlled environment. Having a controlled environment helps me to limit what comes in and what goes out. It also helps me avoid things that may make it difficult to be organized and have a much needed routine. This atmosphere overall helps me to think, to be able to think clearer and become the person that I want to be. When we live with other people it can be hard to think clear because of distracting noises and different interruptions but when you live alone you can have an area that stays the same in which you can easily pick up where you left off.

Now, I understand that living by yourself is not an option for everyone but perhaps creating a space that is specifically for you may be possible. Perhaps utilizing a closet or a room or a corner of a room is very much possible. Some even rent out work spaces. I know it may be hard to see the benefit but this really can be super helpful. Some benefits are: everything you need is in one spot, others will understand that when you come into this place, you are working, and every time you come to your creative place you will mentally eventually understand why you are there. Finding a place to have a routine and be creative is important when we are entering into season like this.
“If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.”
Dave Ramsey

I like the saying that Dave Ramsey has “If you live like no one else, later you can live like no one else”. It’s easy for us to just go with the flow of society but its hard to go against whats normal and easy. If you want a change in your life then you’re going to have to switch things up. It may be uncomfortable but it will be super worth it later. A couple of months ago I lived with my parents rent free where I have passive income coming. I thought to myself that my life is set and I could just retire and chill but God started changing my thinking. I started wanting more for my life and next thing I know I move out to another state in order to work on these goals. Not only did I leave my comfort zone, but I got a job and a place where I now have to pay rent. I went from chillin to working but I understand that the process would not be easy. And so to you my friend, I ask for you to swim up river like so many others. So many others that are living the life that they wanted to live had to put in the work and so can you!
Thank you for joining for today’s Happy Gains conversation. so Until next Wednesday, have an amazing week!

I agree there are many seasons of our lives , and many doors of the unknown we have to take a leap of faith and choose a door and trust the door is the right choice and if not rethink and choose another door:)
Thanks Kenya
