Don’t Give Up: The Discomfort is Normal

Good Morning everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far. Over here in Texas, well, let me just say that enjoying being outside is a bit challenging, sheesh 🄵, its really hot even at night! But besides that everything is amazing. I’m learning so much at my new job, soooo thankful for fellowship, and this new season I’m in. Now, let’s grab something to drink and get into the conversation.

Does This Sounds Familiar

It’s a familiar scenario, isn’t it? You’re pouring your energy into a new venture, diligently searching for that dream job, or relentlessly pursuing a significant personal goal. You’re doing the work, making the calls, sending the emails, and then… the “no’s” start piling up. The progress feels slow, almost non-existent, and suddenly, all that hard work starts to feel utterly useless. It’s during these moments of discouragement that we often let distractions creep in, pulling us off course and making us question everything.

The Uncomfortable Truth of Progress

Here’s something vital to remember, a truth often forgotten in the heat of the struggle: it’s going to be hard, it’s going to feel uncomfortable, and it’s definitely going to feel different. We tend to overlook this fundamental fact. We embark on a new journey, fully committed to the effort, only to become disheartened when the path isn’t a smooth, predictable ascent. We expect immediate results and effortless progress, but true growth rarely works that way.

I recall a personal experience that perfectly illustrates this point. When I was navigating the complex process of buying my first house, the sheer volume of paperwork and the endless list of steps felt incredibly overwhelming. There were moments when I felt profoundly uncomfortable, a knot forming in my stomach as I questioned if I was making the right decision. Was this truly a good idea? Was I ready for such a massive commitment? The self-doubt was pervasive. But then, a wise friend stepped in. They calmly reminded me that these feelings were entirely normal for such a significant life step. Their reassurance, offered with empathy and understanding, made all the difference. Armed with that knowledge and their steady support, I pushed through the discomfort, and eventually, I held the keys to my very own home.

Embrace the Unfamiliar, Stay Focused

Just as my friend provided that crucial perspective and support, I want to share the same empowering message with you: it is absolutely normal to feel uncomfortable, uncertain, and even a little scared when you’re moving forward, pushing boundaries, and actively pursuing your goals. That feeling isn’t a red flag signaling you to quit; more often than not, it’s a clear indicator that you’re growing, learning, and stretching beyond your current limits. It means you’re leaving your comfort zone, and that’s precisely where real progress happens.

So, please, don’t give up. Acknowledge the discomfort, allow yourself to feel it, but refuse to let it deter you from your path. Understand that it’s a natural part of the process, a sign that you’re evolving. Instead of fixating on the difficulties, stay focused on your ultimate vision. Remind yourself why you started, visualize the success you’re working towards, and trust in your ability to navigate these challenging phases. Keep pushing forward; your goals are not just worth the effort, they’re worth pushing through the discomfort for.

Also let me remind you that intimacy with Jesus is always important and if you are consistent, you will still be able to rest in Jesus even in moments of stress because you will know that you are never by yourself and God will be faithful to keep you and get you through to the other side. So, until next time have a beautiful, blessed and bye for now!
