Lately I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed with noise. Now I do not live in the city so life is pretty low key here at my location but there has been this need to get away more. To quiet myself. So I would like to share some of the ways I have been Chasing After Quiet Time.
Before I go on into the how, I would first like to give some context to the type of Quiet Time I am chasing after. For about 15 years I have lived in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. If you have ever been there you know that it is a wonderous place to live. There are woods, hiking trails, and lovely wild life. Although the wild life is lovely, I have to say that I have had my share of the wild life! I really I do not miss it, especially the black bears but I digress. In the winter, the Poconos is like a winter wonderland. During snow storms you can hear the wind blowing and see how the world around you becomes picture perfect. So you can imagine that there are times when there is a peace that feels so tranquil.

This is the Quiet Time that I have missed. At times I would just sit next to a window reading my bible and occasionally I would look out the window in awe that I lived in such a place. There was no need for a phone, television, or radio because I was very much entertained. After many times of delighting myself in this inactive posture I realized the quietness had a sound. Now that may seem weird but the sound was like a low straight tone that was very satisfying. I believe this Quiet Time is something everyone is long for but it is not free and it will cost you something.
What do I mean by it is not free and it will cost you something. Well in the busyness of life we will have to do some things different as well as give something up or make a investment.
Before we go into the how we achieve this time of quietness we should understand that we should desire this time of solitude. As a Christian, Jesus is my Teacher and Lord. In the bible there are moments were it mentions that Jesus went away to a quiet place to go pray. Even Jesus, who is God himself in the flesh made this His practice. Paul also says that he conversed with no one but went to Arabia. These are examples that tell me that Quiet Time is very important.
Making this time priority will help you grab hold of your emotions and also get some answers or instruction from the Lord. These are some of the reasons why I make for Quiet Time a priority. So in the in the next few weeks I would like to tactical this topic from different angles so you can become even more successful with taking some time out for yourself. Some of the things I would like to tackle is the following:
Mental and external hinderances.
Practical ways to create a quiet place.
What to do during this Quiet Time.

So in the upcoming weeks I would like to share some examples and tips on how to create, get the most out of it, and how to enjoy this precious time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. I really enjoy sharing encouragement with others. God willing I will be back next week with Part Two of Quiet Time.
