Something new.

So for today’s conversation I would like to discuss what I believe the Lord is doing in the earth today. I believe that God is setting us free from organized religion that embraces the traditions of men and the creation of a system that has caused many believers to stay stagnant and lukewarm. Disclaimer: this is just my opinion and belief. With that, I believe that my opinion may help someone who is struggling in their faith or maybe with some things that are confusing to you because it is looks “strange”.

Some context.

Some years ago I found myself having to make a decision which was, should I leave the church that I had attended for years or should I proceed in the quest and desire for more in the Lord. Basically I had to decide if I should follow my feelings to stay at that church or should I walk by faith into a new unknown path in my belief that there was something more in Christ. Although it took me a while to make the decision I left that church and experience so much more because I decide to walk my faith. The reason how all this came about, is because I started to realize that something was missing and I also wanted to experience what the church of the book of Acts was experiencing. I felt like I was basically “playing” church and I no longer wanted that for me. Now today I have heard many testify to the same feelings that I was having. I have heard from other ministers that God is calling us into relationship (intimacy) with Him and out of religion and I agree.

Faith or Feeling?

I used my story to bring some context to today’s conversation, to help explain why it is important to really learn to discern if your feelings are leading you or is faith leading you. As we should know, feelings are not always reliable and can lead us down the wrong path. On many occasions the Holy Spirit told me NO when my feelings said yes. I know that many can attest to this, so why are so many of us relying on our feelings as if it is faith? Today God is leading us to go deeper into spiritual things and feelings will not be able to take you into these deeper things. Its time to look with eyes of faith and not rely on feelings only. In the book of Matthew 11:3-11 John the Baptist sent a message from prison asking Jesus “Are thou he that should come, or do we look for another”? Basically John is now in prison and even though he himself profess the Jesus was the actually Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the World, he now has become offended perhaps due to his imprisonment. But Jesus answers the messengers by stating “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.” Like John the Baptist many of us are allowing how we are feeling to dictate what is God rather than looking at the fruit.

God is Love!

I have a question for you. Do you believe God is love? The reason for my question is because many believers are making God to look like He is so ready to send you to hell rather than love you. These believers promote a fear based gospel rather than the good news that Jesus has made a way for us to be set free from our sin. Many of us need to let go of the hard and stern religious mindset that causes us to see God improperly. This mindset reminds me of the Pharisees just waiting for Jesus to make a mistake so they could call Him out. In Matt 9:10-13 after the Pharisees which once again only focused on what they perceive as sin Jesus said,  “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Like Paul who said in Philippians 3:8 “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ”. When Paul meet Jesus on the road of Damascus, at that point He was confronted with the truth of who Jesus really was, which caused him to soon realize that all that He thought he knew was really garbage (Acts 9). At that point the God whom he thought He knew so much about showed him that he in fact knew nothing. Many times I have heard people, including myself in the past, speak in away that, God can only act in a manner that makes sense to me and only what I have read in the bible, especially the KJV😉🤣. In the book of John 21:25, John writes “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written”. This verse is telling us that Jesus can not be contained or limited.

Basically.

So overall what I am trying to say is that God is doing something new which is not really new but actually what He always wanted for the church and it was happening with the book of Acts church. He wants intimacy and for us be to empowered by His Holy Spirit. He is bringing the simplicity of knowing Jesus back so we can really experience what it is to be a manifest son and daughter. The only way we are going to really get there is by walking by faith, stop being so easily offended by external appearances, stop being fearfully, and look at the fruit of what God is doing today. One of the best approaches that I found to keep in mind is the account of Peter walking on water. If you know the story, then you know that even though Peter started sinking, Jesus was right there to save him. Like Peter we have to stop allowing logic and feeling to stop us from accepting this new move of God and trust that even if we may get into trouble Jesus will rescue us. He really does love us. So remember, take it one day at a time and stay encouraged in the Lord!
