What really matters!

For today’s conversation I would like to discuss why it is wise to make sure that we above all give our attention to the opinion of our Lord Jesus Christ. As I have mentioned in previous post about my past job of 14 years, those years were very challenging but those years gave me the understanding that the only way I was going to walk in integrity, protect my peace, and keep joy in my heart was to make God the Boss of my life. This means that no matter what kind of leadership, costumer, patient, family member, and what or whomever else, God’s opinion out ranks any and everyone else opinion.

Intimacy.

Many times we allow the opinions of others to dictate our next move. Like Saul in the book of 1 Samuel 13:8-13, who made an unlawful sacrifice because he feared when the people started to leave him, we to allow the pressures of others and life to move us into making hasty decisions. I believe the reason we as Christians get distracted by the opinions of others is because we lack intimacy with Jesus. There is a misconception that people equate religion to a relationship with Jesus but it is not and instead of taking time out to just cultivate a relationship, many are consumed with the “what else can I do” mindset.

The rock or sand?

During those 14 years at my past job I was faced with many many many temptations. I did fall into some of them but as I matured I stop giving other people opinions power over me and I started to abandon myself to the Father. When I did that I noticed that the opinions of others had less effect on me because God became the only audience I was willing to entertain. I appreciate the Godly counsel of my brothers and sisters in Christ but above all I can’t totally abandon myself to them. Like the parable in book of Matthew 7:24-27 which is about two men who was building their houses. One built their house on sand and the other built their house on a rock, its obvious from the story that only the house that was built on something stable such as the rock would be able to stand. Well this can be said about whose opinion really matters. Religion and opinions of other can become stable and it will not keep you or uphold you but intimacy with Jesus will keep you and uphold you. From my own personal experience I have came across many different inconsistent leaders and groups. Although many of these individual mean well, like me, we all go through seasons of change. Some things we no longer practice and we grow we can cause those who were looking up at us to become confused. This is why it is important to cultivate a relationship Jesus who is absolute truth and who is consistent.

In Conclusion.

So to conclude, I would like to ask you a question. Who is the audience that you are willing to entertain? If you are confused about this question then look at your life. Are you easily moved by the news, your boss, those “irritating” coworkers, family, or are you experiencing stability in your emotions and peace because your are grounded in God. If you are easily offended and set off then its time to get quiet before the Lord. Its time to make intimacy a major priority so you can experience His peace, joy, love and much more. Lets keep in mind that everything was made through Him and for Him, HalleluYah (Colossians 1:16-17) , so it is imperative that we understand that its all about Him and for Him. Also I would like to add that consistency is very important when forming intimacy with Jesus. Please don’t allow yourself give up because Jesus is not showing up the way you want Him to, so be faithful! So as always remember, take it one day at a time and stay encouraged in the Lord!
