Quiet Time: Creating Your Quiet Place.

Practical ways to create a quiet place.

Welcome again everyone to today’s Monday Morning Coffee. I hope everyone had a wonderful week and are looking forward to creating an atmosphere of a peaceful place to spend your Quiet Time there. So now that we have decided to go forward on taking some time out for ourselves, we can now discuss some practical ways to create our own quiet place.

This is my Quiet Place for Quiet Time! (my closet)

In the introduction blog post on our topic Quiet Time, I mentioned that I really wanted to get back to that Quiet Place where I would just sit and enjoy the sound of peace. Well I have created a place for my Quiet Time and I love it so much. Every time I come into that space I feel special and blessed that I have a place like this just dedicated to seek the Lord, worship, and just sit quietly. So lets discuss some practical ways on how to create your own space.

The likely next step would be to pick the location of your quiet place. Which ever space you can dedicate. A specific place just for that use to enjoy your alone time would be the best option. If there is no space that could only be used for your quiet place please do not become discouraged, this is just the time to be creative. I have seen examples of people being very creative by setting up there quiet place and then they would take it down when they were done. The point is that whether you have to set it up and take it down or if you have a place that can always be set up, you can still have a place to enjoy some peace and quiet. As long as when you are in that place you should feel peaceful.

The next step is something I really enjoyed which was decorating my space. In this process it is important to be picky, focused, and intentional. Try not to over decorate. We have heard the saying “Less is More”. You should only use items that will promote what you are trying to gain from that space which is for the most part some peace and relaxation. Some items for decorating could be the following:

Candles or Incense

Inspiring Art

Literature, Poems, and/or the Bible

Plants

Comfortable Sitting, Pillows, and Blankets

Journals, Crossword Puzzles, and Coloring Books

Whatever your style is make sure it promotes a relaxing atmosphere. The next step is to make sure if possible when you are about to go into your quiet place it should be when it is less distracting. Example, for me I like to enter into my quiet space at 630am and 9pm because everyone else is usually in their rooms so I can get the most out of my time with less noise. Also it is a wise idea to go into your space when your children and/or spouse do not need you or they understand that you will be taking some time to yourself. This will help you feel worry free because you will not have to worry about someone wondering where you are and you won’t be distracted by others. Now don’t get me wrong, you can go there anytime but I just want you to get the most out of your time. So now that we have went over the fun part it is now time for you to implement these ideas or any other ideas that will help you create your place of choice for your Quiet Time. Remember be creative and less is more!

So thank you so much for reading part three of Quiet Time. I hope that you will come back for part four. Also if you are still on the fence about creating a special place for you maybe you should just give it a try. Sometimes those inside voices can be so pessimistic but the only thing you can do is move forward by faith trusting the world won’t fall apart if you take some time for yourself. If you would like to read my post about how to overcome those negative inner voices then this is the link to my post called “Five ways to deal with the assigned naysayer”. This post has a free print out as well.

Remember to like👍, subscribe, and share this post. If you have any comments please share them as well. Also every Tuesday I have a blog called Tuesday Morning Coffee which is dedicated to parenting from a Titus 2 Perspective so if you would like, please join the discussion. Until next time enjoy the rest of your week👋.
