Good Monday Morning Coffee lovely people😊! I hope everyone is is doing well in the Lord. Welcome to another week and another encouraging conversation. So grab your favorite morning drink☕ and let’s get in to the today’s conversation.

In today’s conversation we will be discussing the importance of guarding your heart. Sometimes in my walk I may feel distant from God. At times I wonder way am I feeling like this. Well this past week I started thinking again to myself “why am I feeling so distant from God”? Then I had thought come to my mind that basically said “it is because you keep looking at all those Facebook videos”. This reminds me of those times when I am trying to eat healthier and in the beginning I am doing well. I am even feeling alert and great but then a little chip here and one Oreo there and then I feeling tried once again. So as the saying goes you are what you eat. I have heard from someone that explained that if you want to have energy and feel great then you need to eat foods that bring life such as fruits and vegetables but if you want to feel tired and have no energy then eating meats and processed foods are the way to go. So what about the others things that we consume like music, books, television, YouTube videos and more. Surely this is true! Just look at all the people who were feeling and even still feeling discouraged from the changes that have taken place in our world. Many have felt depressed and some have killed themselves. This is why we have to constantly guard our hearts.

In the book of Proverbs 4:23-24, it says to “keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee”. The scriptures continue to instruct the reader to look straight ahead, to consider the path that your feet are taking, and keep your feet from evil. The merrian dictionary defines the word froward as something that is “habitually disposed to disobedience and opposition”(Froward | Definition of Froward by Merriam-Webster). I was going to put the definition in my own words but this definition is very clear and strong. From these scriptures we are told to be sure to put those things that are continually disposing us to disobedience and to darkness away. I use to think that verse 24 is only referring to my own mouth but I believe that it is instructing us to put those things away that continue in this manner. This means that we should put away those who are using their mouth and/or platforms away when they are using it in a froward manner.

So how can we overcome this issue. Well first things first, you have to recognized you need to get rid of these bad influences. You have to realize that your diet is only producing dead things. When you truthfully see the influences in your life as they really are only then can you take a stance against them. The second step is prayer. Our Father in heaven is always listening and wanting to help us overcome. He is able to give the strength that you need to get the victory over your problems. Third is asking help from the brethren. Ask them to pray for you. We as sisters and brothers in the Lord need to be accountable to each other as well as lifting each other up. So seek pray and counsel from your family in the Lord. Last but definitely does not have to be, which is do your part. At times we don’t want to do our part but that’s not cool. You have to take responsibility for what you are doing and make the necessary changes if we want complete victory.

Remember what James 2:20 says “faith without works is dead”. So if you are believing to overcome these issues but their is no action to back it up then don’t expect any real change. Just like a person believing that they are going to move, well what do you think a person like that would begin to do, Pack! So you have to do your part. Now I have one more step. Although we know that certain issues may take longer than others to overcome, please don’t beat yourself up or get depress. As long as you are determined to do your part and live for the Lord you are in good hands. So remember, take it one day at a time and stay encouraged in the Lord.
